Time for Mets to cash in on Thor?

Noah Syndergaards name has been subject to trade talk for some time now. In the past few days the increased talk has got me thinking, is it time to cash in on the flashy flame-thrower they call Thor?

Many moons ago the Mets traded there reigning Cy young for a cant miss prospect. No, not the long haired animated pitcher but a catcher name Darnaud. Little did we know Noah would be the stud in this trade. He made a significant impact right away when he stepped on the big stage, helping the Mets reach the postseason for the first time since 06 and first World Series appearance since 86.

Syndergaard followed up the next season with ace like stuff. Hitting triple digits more then any other pitcher, the 24 year old racked up 218 ks with a 2.60 era. 2017 is where Noah’s luck ran out, suffering a torn Lat muscle and missing most of the season. 2018 brought us several ups and downs (more then expected) but ended solid.

To me it makes sense to explore the value of Syndergaard. Why not talk to other teams, gauge interest to see what the potential blockbuster haul in return would be. But do I really trade this man away? Hell fucking no.

Enough is enough. The Wilpons just don’t know how to win. You have the luxury of one of the best staffs in baseball and are willing to throw that away? Technically it’s not throwing away when the acquisition would most likely be a great bat in return but here’s an idea. I have been pondering this for a while and I think several Mets fans will agree. First thing you do is not trade one of your aces (because yes his stuff is that damn good), the guy who brought you to a place where the Mets don’t go too often. Second Idea is open your checkbook, grab a pen and splurge you rich fucks. If the true goal is wanting to win, make the right signings this offseason. Don’t trade a key piece of the puzzle away just to help in another area. Keep the core that you had and add to that.

In my eyes as a Mets fan 2006 was exhilarating. Yes the final outcome wasn’t what we wanted, but the product was in place on the field. Several reasons for that were the Mets became aggressive, spent bread and guess what happened? The productive product drew fans into the stadium! Ca-ching ca-Ching Wilpons. Of course we would love the machados of the world but I think we understand that might be unrealistic. There are several other players that can help lead to success via free agency and trade.

I truly feel trading Syndergaard would severely upset this fanbase and franchise. It would be drastic and detrimental. It would cause even more dysfunction if that’s even possible. Keep what’s working for you. Degrom, Syndergaard and Wheeler is a staff that should feared by all of baseball. Don’t do what use always do Mets and make our baseball life a living hell.
