New York Giants Season Review

The Giants season comes to an end this week. They play division foe, the Dallas Cowgirls. As much as it pains me to say this, this is a must lose game. Set yourself up as best as you can in the draft and don’t worry about this game. You can’t spoil anything for them. The division is there’s. They can’t move up in seed and they can’t go back. Just let it be.
In a season that will be remembered as another disappointment its hard to look at many positives. I’ve said it all year but Saquon has been everything expected and more. Even when he wasn’t used correctly. The future is bright for him as long as the front office starts to patch up the holes that need to be filled.
As of now Eli will be back and will be starting. Which should happen. Ideally the plan should follow that of when Eli was drafted. Let whoever they bring in sit behind him for his swan song. Learn from him and study everything. Then ease him into action just how Eli followed Kurt Warner many years ago. We can only hope that transition provides the same results.
Odell will be another question mark amongst the people. A lot of people are getting sick of the antics on and off the field, some going as far to call him a cancer. As much as I can not stand some of what he does off the field or his childish antics on it, there has never once been a word spoken about this guy being a problem in the locker room. Not from coaches and not from other players. So going the “lockerroom cancer” route might be a bit too far. Thinking that this team will be better off without him is a little bit moronic. Yes you can trade him, and get a first rounder plus. Ideally what though? An offensive lineman? If you trade away a game changer you better be getting back a lot in return. A first round pick on an unproven commodity unless it’s can’t miss like Saquon….how many of those are in the draft every year? Bottom line, you saw it with Odell sitting a lot of these past games out, when you do not have that other game changing threat and teams can load 8, 9, sometimes 10 guys in the box to stop Saquon, we see how much they miss this guy on the field.
It’s not the off season yet, but it might as well be. There are a lot of things that need to change. A lot of holes to fill, more so on the defensive side of the ball, but holes all over the place regardless. Again, please do not try and win this game. It is really not necessary. Get the best draft pick you can.
