Week 16 Waiver Wire Targets

Ryan Fitzpatrick (ESPN 16% Yahoo 25%)

Fitzmagic has been scooped up in some leagues the past few weeks and rightfully so. In 3 of the past 4 weeks Fitz has thrown at least 2 TDs and in 2 of those games over 275 yards. In the 1 matchup he failed to throw any TDs, he lost his top option beginning of the game to concussion (D. Parker). Fitz will be a top 12 QB against the Bengals.

Kerryon Johnson (ESPN 35% Yahoo 39%)

Back from the dead is one of my preseason favorite RBs who killed some of our seasons. Kerryon returns from the IR to a Lions team plagued by injuries. In the Lions last 3 games they are ranked in the bottom 5 for rushing efficiency so KJ should be a boost, but how much playing time will he actually receive? This remains to be determined, but his upside is huge. You should have the room on your roster this late in the season as it’s most likely your championship matchup. If you are undecided with your RB2 or flex spot, add KJ to the mix and we will see what reports we hear later in the week.

Mike Boone (ESPN 0% Yahoo 3%)

The injury status of Mattison and Cook for week 16 are trending toward not playing, so if both sit out then Boone MUST be started. His upside is through the roof for several reasons. The Packers have been horrendous against running backs. They have allowed 7 backs this year to accumulate 100 total yards. The Vikings offensive line is built to run the ball down the opponents throat so if Boone starts he has top 10 upside. This is another risky waiver wire add but also one that can with your championship!

Patrick Laird (ESPN 39% Yahoo 45%)

The Dolphins have juggled running backs all season. The latest act to the running back circus has been anything but a freak. Laird has supplied fantasy owners in PPR format 10+ points in each of the last 3 weeks. Laird faces off against the Bengals who have allowed the 4th most rushing yards on the season. This sounds odd as I type but Laird but be your safest available running back on the wire.

Breshad Perriman (ESPN 9% Yahoo 12%)

If you started Perriman in your playoff matchup, touché. Breshad stepped in for Mike Evans and filled his shoes almost better then Evans himself. A 3 TD performance has owners sprinting to the waiver wire in hopes of claiming him. With Godwin most likely missing next week, Perriman becomes the clear cut top option for the Bucs offense. He gets another matchup every WR wants, facing the Texans secondary.

Anthony Miller (ESPN 25% Yahoo 26%)

Who the hell does Anthony Miller think he is? All year we hear about how shitty the Bears passing offense is but Anthony Miller told everyone to enjoy the show. In 4 of his past 5 games he has been targeted 9+ times, this last week peaking at 15. Miller now has the 5th most Targets in the past 5 weeks. Trubisky has developed something nice with Miller and should continue to look his way this week. His matchup is no walk in the park, as the Chiefs secondary has really stepped it up this season. With that being said Miller has major flex appeal and worth of starting over several others.

Tyler Higbee (ESPN 39% Yahoo 67%)

It’s time to show the big fella some love on the waiver wire. Higbees targets have increased each of the past 5 weeks and the stat line shows. Higbee has hauled 26 catches on over 335 yards in the past 3 contests. We have seen in the past with Goff when he finds a pass catcher he’s comfortable with, he will throw to him relentlessly. His week 16 matchup seems a littler riskier, but I am at a point if you need production from your TE spot then trust Higbee in your lineup as a top 12 guy. If Higbee is not available , look for dare I say OJ Howard as his target share should rise due to injuries to there too receivers.
