Fournette F@$&’d up. Now what?

The bell cow back for Jacksonville has made some comments that landed him in hot water with team management. Fournette basically advocated for his buddy, and ours, Cam Newton to join the Jaguars in order to “create some competition” at the quarterback position. Fournette chose his words carefully, but the indirect shots toward presumptive starter Gardner Minshew did not sit well with the Jags front office.

A proven veteran in his own right, Fournette has shown that even though he may have some attitude problems he still is one of the top talents at running back in the NFL. And from a fantasy football prospective following a rocky sophomore campaign, Fournette came back strong in the 2019 season. Which makes him a low end RB1 with elite upside going into the 2020 season.

With Jacksonville signaling that they are ready to move on from their former top pick, GCF asks; where is the best fit for Leonard Fournette?

Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz and company have a lot of cap room and a totally unproven backfield going into 2020. Miles Sanders is a solid option, but Fournette is a totally different animal. The former LSU Tiger would add a skill set that Philly has not seen since the great Brian Westbrook left. Fournette could be the missing piece to Doug Pederson’s puzzle that leads them back to the Super Bowl.

LA Chargers: LA is in a tricky spot this season. They have a top defense, and insane talent at all skill positions, but no quarterback. And with the elite talent that Austin Ekeler provides out of the backfield, why add another back to the mix? Well, if the NFL has taught us anything it has shown us that you can never really have enough weapons on offense. Fournette could fill the Melvin Gordon role and possibly give them the extra juice they need to get themselves over the top and into the Super Bowl. The Super Chargers also have the cap room to add him which is the real hurdle to get past.

Washington Redskins: Finally, the ‘skins are the slam dunk pick for Fournette. And every minute they aren’t pursuing him is a minute wasted. Let’s face it; Washington has been a complete dumpster fire for years now. From the beyond problematic name, to their mismanagement of salary cape for years, Washington has let their loyal fans down season after season. However, the acquisition of Fournette could change things in old D.C. At only 25 years old Fournette is still arguably about to enter his prime. And with legendary back Adrian Peterson (GCF’s favorite running back) in his NFL golden years, Fournette would be the perfect player for AP to pass the torch to. Imagine a backfield with a prime Leonard Fournette and a healthy Darius Guice…Unstoppable!

Stayed tuned GCF Fam. This week is going to be a crazy one for the Fantasy Football landscape!
