The “Experts” are a joke: NFL Draft Edition

It’s that time of the year again boys and girls! Time for every person with a sports website or twitter to give you five versions of their NFL mock drafts! Yes, you have been waiting for this all winter long. A 22 year old who is a part time barista at Starbucks knows exactly where your favorite college prospect is going to land, right? No, No, No, you’re not stupid! You listen to the experts like Mel Kiper Jr. You know, the guy who said if former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen wasn’t a star in the NFL he would retire. That was 10 years ago folks, and Jimmy never became anything more than a backup while your boy Kiper is still spitting his bull crap all over ESPN.

The fact of the matter is when it comes to predicting where players go and more importantly which of those players will be good, everyone is in the dark. To put it simply; nobody knows shit about who will be the best players in any NFL draft, ever. At the end of the day your guess is as good as anybody else’s. And that’s okay as long as we all realize that truth.

When I say “experts” I don’t just mean our draft analyst friends at ESPN and Fox Sports, I even mean the scouts for the damn teams! These guys have as many busts under their belt as they do success stories and they act like they are the gate keepers to NFL immortality. When in reality they are just doing the best educated guesses they can like the rest of us.

There are so many examples of these guys fucking up. And of course I am here to show you. Back in 2014, where Jadeveon Clowney went number one, guess who went before the best player in the draft Khalil Mack at number five…house hold names such as tackle Greg Robinson, Quarterback Blake Bortles, and Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins….

Seriously. Those three went with before arguably the best defensive player in the league today. People that get paid a hell of a lot of money actually picked those players over Mack. How does that happen?

That isn’t the only example I have for you either. Let’s get into some lightening round information for you…

Players taken before star safety Jamal Adams and Fantasy Football god Christian Mccaffery: Mitchel Trubisky, Solomon Thomas, and Corey Davis.

Players taken before Brandon Scherff one of the best guards in the league: Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Dante Fowler, and the overrated Amari Cooper.

And Joey Bosa being taken behind Jared Goff and Carson Wentz will always be insane to me.

I know people will criticize me for not mentioning that the teams that took the quarterbacks needed them more than any other position, but from a talent standpoint these quarterbacks were absolute busts in comparison to the All Pro players they passed up on. What is the point of taking a non slam dunk prospect over a shaky prospect of a quarter back?

Enjoy the drafts folks, but don’t trust the “experts” do your own research!
