2020 Fantasy Spotlight: Julio Jones aka Ole Faithful

Julio Jones has quietly put together a Hall if Fame career with unforgettable moments, but very little fanfare. The man has been the picture of consistency for the past 9 years, but during that time son guys like Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr and Calvin Johnson have soaked up all of the lime light. So what gives? Why is Julio not more of a house hold name and is he actually undervalued in fantasy football going into 2020?

The reality is, Julio Jones is a victim of his own success. He is a modest talent who has put up at least 1394 receiving yards the past 6 years in a row. He does not have a huge persona and plays in Atlanta where Matt Ryan gets most of the media attention. The Falcons have also not been that good during his tenure in Atlanta. Outside of their Super Bowl appearance in 2016 the Falcons much like their neighbors the Braves have always came apart in the playoffs. All of this plays into account why Julio is swept under the rug nationally.

Now take all of what I just wrote and throw it in the fucking trash. Because Julio God Damn Jones is the exact type of fantasy football player you need on your team. I call him ole faithful because you can always count on him. He has had a relatively healthy career and he is a lock to get all the targets in Atlanta as long as he still has his skills. And my God does the man have skills. Not only is Julio an elite speedster but he is one of the best route runners in NFL history with arguably the best hands in the game today. Julio is someone you definitely want on your team, but where do you take him?

Julio Jones ADP is somewhere in the early second round depending where you look. Here at GCF we make our own rankings and rules and I have Julio in the top of the second round. I could also make the case he could go in the late first round even at his age of 31. If you can get Julio anywhere in the second round you absolutely have to pull the trigger on him. His touchdowns are never off the charts, but now with Atlanta’s retooled offensive line Matt Ryan will have way more time to throw to his elite weapon. This only adds even more value to our boy Julio going into 2020.

Prediction: 103 Receptions 1458 yards and 7 Touchdowns.
