Buffalo Bills Fantasy Football Outlook

Buffalo Bills Fantasy Football Preview

2019 Recap

The Bills finished the season last year 10-6 clinching a playoff spot for the 2nd time in 3 years. Buffalo is led by a dominant defense but the Offense took a huge step forward last year.

The Bills finished 8th in total rushing yards last year from the combined efforts of Frank Gore, Devin Singletary and Josh Allen. John Brown and Cole Beasley were the main benefactors from the receiving game. All in all the Bills improved as a whole in 2019 but what does 2020 have in store?

The Bill decided not to retain veteran Frank Gore. Instead they drafted Zach Moss from Utah and brought in TJ Yeldon who is stil very young. They made a huge acquisition this off season trading a first rounder and multiple other draft picks for Vikings wideout Stefon Diggs. The Bills added some talent to the offensive side of the field and should be fighting for the division in the Tom Bradyless AFC East but we are not here for that talk. You come to GCF for Fantasy Football advice and slander. Luckily for you, there will be plenty of both.

Josh Allen jumped from QB21 to QB6 last year.

He got it done for fantasy owners who bought into his low price tag. This year he is being drafted as the 7th QB taken off the board and that’s a huge mistake. Josh Allen has shown little success from a passing standpoint. He now has 2 years with under a 60% pass completions. If you go back to his college days he has 4 straight years of this.

We know Josh Allen’s bread and butter are his running abilities and deep ball, but the rushing is not sustainable. You can’t ask your franchise QB to rush over 100 carries every year because in time it will take a toll on his body, especially the way he endures hits. With that being said I feel Josh Allen’s pass attempts will increase. This may sound great for Joshua but judging how incapable of a passer he has been in his young career don’t count your chickens. There are several Quarterbacks being drafted later on that I would rather target.

From a positive standpoint for Allen, I do see Diggs being a viable option in the passing game as he has shown flashes of excellence in his NFL career. He is a WR who is flashy and quick who has shown to have huge numbers in the YPR category as recently as last year (17.9 per reception). Last year he had 63/1130/6 TDs. Expect his catches/touchdowns to be slightly higher as the Vikings went to a more run-first approach with the marvelous Dalvin Cook.

The addition of Diggs means a heavy fade on John Brown. Brown achieved WR1 success in several of his 2019 games having his most successful year since 2015 with the Cardinals. Theres not a chance in hell Brown finishes the year as a Top 20 WR again, even if Diggs didn’t make the roster. Nothing against the talented fella but again his QB is named Josh Allen. Although I love Josh Browns current ADP (currently ranked 44th at WR) he is nothing more then a flex play or WR3. Cole Beasley will also take a dramatic hit in Fantasy. Beasley will still see the field but he shouldn’t be drafted at this point and should be considered a streaming option.

A lot of negatives so far but the Bills Mafia is vulnerable to it. Something the fans will

be able to cheer about is the rushing attack. Devin Singletarys workload should increase dramatically in 2020 as he has rose the depth charts to the top RB spot. He will certainly enjoy a rise in carries and rushing yards but most of his damage comes in open space as a great pass catcher.

Singletary isn’t the only back who should enjoy fantasy success. The 2020 third round pick Zach Moss will give Devin a run for his money. He is a big polarizing back who will have plenty of red zone attempts.

Singletarys currently ADP puts him as the 23rd RB in PPR. This seems like fair value for the sophomore. I am more enticed with Zach Moss who is currently being drafted outside the top 45 for running backs. If you draft Singletary, Moss is essential to have on your team as a handcuff. Not only will Moss have an efficient workload as Gores 12 carries a game are gone but if Singletary misses anytime Moss will be called upon.

I won’t bore you with the Bills tight end fiasco so let’s recap on the Bill 2020 Fantasy Football season

Josh Allen-Fade

Stefon Diggs-Fair value

John Brown-Fade

Cole Beasley-Borderline undraftable

Devin Singletary-Fair value
