5 Fantasy Football Players in Their Make or Break Year

These are guys who have long been predicted to be the next big thing. And while they haven’t totally disappointed by any means, they have yet to reach their full potential. This year it’s time to put up or shut up!

Joe Mixon RB ADP: 10

Mixon has long been a favorite of fantasy “experts”. From his rookie year when he was going in the third round to this year when he is going in the first, Mixon is the fantasy communities guy that they want to be the next big thing. Yet, he isn’t. Mixon is an RB2 being drafted as an RB1. Plain and simple. We are expecting him to take a step forward this year with the addition of Joe Mixon and another year under his belt in Zac Taylor’s offense but make no mistake, this is a huge year for Mixon moving forward.

Davante Adams WR ADP: 8

Adams is by far one of my favorite fantasy players of the past few years. His skill set is elite and his situation in Green Bay as Rodgers number one receiver has made him a top pick in drafts for the past four years. Unfortunately injuries have plagued Adams on and off for three of those years including him missing four games right in the heart of the fantasy football season last year. Make no mistake, this is a real make or break year for Adams. Halfway through his $50+ million dollar extension and in the prime of his career at 27 we are looking for Adams to stay healthy and show the league that he can put himself in the number one overall WR in fantasy football.

Evan Engram TE ADP: 75

Another hyped up skill position player that has been severely limited by injuries. When Engram came out of Ole Miss and started for the Giants in 2017 he saw over 100 targets and flashed an impressive skill set. However, since that rookie campaign he has trended downward dramatically. Only playing 8 game last year and scoring 6 touchdowns in the last two years combined he has left fantasy players who spent early picks on him reeling. This year his ADP is still much higher than it should be at 75 and for him to pay that dividend out he needs to stay healthy. He will have plenty of opportunity in this offense, but he needs to capitalize before he is deemed undraftable in the 2021 fantasy football draft.

Mike Williams WR ADP: 108

Williams came out of Clemson highly favored and was viewed as the next stud wide receiver. He has underwhelmed on those WR1 predictions, but he has still been incredibly serviceable to fantasy teams. Last year even with missing 3 games to injury he still put up over a thousand yards and towards the end of the year showed why he was drafted seventh overall. I personally think Williams is a steal at his current ADP and even with Tyrod Taylor starting the season as the QB I think Williams will have a breakout year. However, if he does not show the league that he is ready to take the next step he will definitely be labeled a bust and his career with the Chargers will be in jeopardy.

Carson Wentz QB ADP: 82

The former second overall pick finally stayed healthy for an entire season and put together a strong fourth year effort. Prior to last season he had been out for multiple games including the Eagles legendary Super Bowl run. This year Wentz looks to solidify his position as a top quarterback in the league. From a fantasy perspective though, he is risky. This is the year Wentz shows that last season was not a fluke and he can stay healthy. The Eagles will need him too and so will his fantasy owners. I am staying away from Wentz at that ADP, but for those that do take him he will effectively be a sort of fantasy lottery ticket. He will either the a waste of your pick or be a Pro Bowler on his way to raking you tit he title game. I see no in between for Wentz in this make or break year.
