Week 3 Waiver Wire Targets

Week 3 waiver wire targets

Ryan Tannehill (ESPN 34% Yahoo 45%)

The Titans offense is pretty hot and no it’s not just because of Derrick Henry. Ryan Tannehill is looking like money so far, continuing his success from last season. 6 TDs and 0 picks is something I would sign up for through the first 2 weeks. Tannehill is a great streaming option this week against the Vikings.

Dion Lewis (ESPN 1% Yahoo 5%) Wayne Gallman (ESPN 0% Yahoo 1%)

The Giants RB situation on the wire might be the most beneficial considering Saquons season-ending injury. Many people are quick to jump on the Dion Lewis bandwagon but I am not so sure he is the guy to own. Looking at Dions career he has never been used as a traditional ball carrier. In 8 seasons, Lewis has eclipsed over 65 rushes only twice. Both backs will be utilized in the Giants offense moving forward but do not be surprised if Gallman paves the way in carries.

Jerrick McKinnon (ESPN 19% Yahoo 22%) Jeff Wilson (ESPN 0% Yahoo 0%)

Another RB injury that leaves us with 2 backups to look at. While this situation differs from the Giants given the severity of injuries, this situation will provide much more production. Jeff Wilson was 4th on the depth chart but now has rose to 2nd. We have seen flashes from Wilson just last year when he had multiple huge performances. McKinnon opened peoples eyes last week when he ran for an impressive 55 yard run on 3rd and 31. Due to Mckinnons injury history he will be slowly accumulated into a larger workload but both guys are worth a pick up.

Mike Davis (ESPN 1% Yahoo 1%)

The top overall pick in your Fantasy Football drafts suffered an ankle injury and is due to miss multiple weeks. Huge bummer for Panthers fans but more importantly to those who drafted him. CMCs backup had a big day through the air catching 8 passes on 74 yards. Although he only had 1 rush, he will be the Panthers back to own for the however long Mccaffery is out. Pick up in all formats.

Joshua Kelley (ESPN 26% Yahoo 39%)

I spoke about him last week in our waiver wire report and apparently the world didn’t get the hint. Although Ekeler came back to life in week 2 or rather the coaching staff, Kelley was just as vital. He had a team high 23 carries on 64 rushing yards while contributing in the passing attack. It’s clear now Ekeler won’t be a workhorse back rather he will share duties similar to what he’s accustomed too. If for some reason your league opponents failed to scoop him up last week, pounce on it now!

Darrell Henderson (ESPN 45% Yahoo 31%)

At last, another RB on our waiver wire list due to injury. The rookie Cam Akers unfortunately suffered a concussion. Henderson took advantage of the situation and went ahead to piss of Malcolm Brown owners. Henderson More then doubled Browns yardage and was efficient as a pass catcher and a runner. He is worth a claim but be advised this backfield will cause problems throughout the season it seems like until Cam Akers grabs a tight grip on lead back duties.

Devonta Freeman (ESPN 8% Yahoo 10%)

This man could be a huge upgrade to your roster, considering he most likely will find a new home this week. He has some options where he can land and probably become the lead back within a few weeks. We have seen the excellence of Freeman in fantasy but those days are behind us. I can see him as RB2/Flex play is he signs with the right scheme. Definitely worth a stash.

Russell Gage (ESPN 20% Yahoo 21%)

Gage is crushing it early on with the Falcons stellar offense. Despite sitting third on the depth chart, he has still been relevant for Atlanta as well in Fantasy. Julio Jones clearly doesn’t look right with a lingering injury which gives him an even higher boost. Gage now has 2 touchdowns through 2 games and looks to be an important part to the vicious passing attack. He is worth a roster in 12 team formats.

Keenan Cole (ESPN 2% Yahoo 3%)

This one is surprising to me but he has been a huge part of the Jaguar offense this short year. He currently has 5 more targets then DJ Chark and has 2 scores in his 2 games. Minshew and the Jaguars offense are solid and are here to stay. I think Cole should be rostered in deeper formats and should have an eye kept on him.

Michael Pittman Jr. (ESPN 15% Yahoo 15%)

This is an under the radar guy right now who hasn’t made a huge bang yet, but this could be coming. If you are feeling frisky this may be the pick for you. Campbell (who I have been pretty high on) suffered an injury last week and quite frankly TY Hilton’s age and wear and tear is beginning to show. Rivers is balling and showed some love to the rook targeting him 5 times last week. No preseason meant less reps and that certainly hurts rookies with chemistry. Pittman is another stellar wideout who can breakout shortly, but only should be added in deeper leagues.

Marquez Valdez-Scantling (ESPN 36% Yahoo 17%) and Allen Lazard (ESPN 34% Yahoo 47%)

I guess many people didn’t want read much into Aaron Rodgers and the Packers first performance because both of these studs are available in more then half your leagues. Even with Adams out they are both showing they are rosterable. My preference which may surprise most is Allen Lazard because he has the skill set of what a wideout he preferences but honestly pick your poison. With Adams injury this past week and the history of his injuries, would be smart to put a claim in for one of these dudes.

Corey Davis (ESPN 27% Yahoo 42%)

GCF was huge on Davis this week with the AJ Brown injury. While he numbers were modest, he still gave us a touchdown and a few catches. It looks like Brown could miss more time and I love Davis again against a Vikings defense that has struggled 2 weeks in a row through the air. Davis should be streamed if you suffered an injury or just have a weak wide receiver core.

Mike Gesicki (ESPN 48% Yahoo 67%)

It seems Gesicki may haven been forgotten by many, the 12th highest scoring tight end from last year. Against the Bills this past week he racked in 130 yards which is quite impressive. He faces the Jags on Thursday and is a solid streaming option.
Jonnu Smith (ESPN 39% Yahoo 68%Love me some Jonnu and he gave us love back this week with 2 touchdowns, putting him with 3 on the year. With Brown out, Tanny looked for the big man several times. The Titans offense is thriving, and Jonnu is a big part of it. He’s worth a look in 12 team formats.

Dalton Schultz, Jordan Reed, Mo Alie-Cox are all other options for Tight ends in your leagues.
