Week 16 Waiver Wire Targets

Jalen Hurts (ESPN 32% Yahoo 39%)

Each week Hurts has got better since taking over the QB duties but Sundays performance was insane. Hurts finished as a Top 3 QB with 338 Passing yards, 63 rushing yards and 4 total TDs. Those are league winning numbers folks. Against Dallas in week 16, you can make a case to start Hurts over several top 10 QBs. QB1 value and a chance at the Trophy!

Baker Mayfield (ESPN 27% Yahoo 47%)

The Progessive mascot turned his career around this year and should be kissing Stefanskis ass for it. Mayfields last 4 weeks have been his best averaging over 300 yards and more then 2 TDs a game. Baker plays the red hot Jets (take a joke) who have given up not only the 2nd most passing TDs to QBs but the 3rd most fantasy points to the position per game.

Tony Pollard (ESPN 22% Yahoo 45%)

Pollard was given the start for the Cowboys with Zeke sidelined due to a calf injury and looked better then Zeke has all season. Over 130 total yards and 2 touchdowns on the day was enough to make him a top 5 RB on the week. Zeke could be back week 16 against the Eagles, but even so Pollard will get a heavy supply of snaps.

Le’Veon Bell (ESPN 58% Yahoo 53%)

Bell has disappointed Fantasy owners all season but now has a chance to redeem himself on the biggest stage. CEH suffered an injury that will have him out for the rest of the fantasy season and Bell stepped into his place with 60+ yards and a TD. Now the Falcons rush defense shouldn’t be taken lightly but they have allowed the 5th most receptions to running backs, an area where Bell and Mahomes can thrive. He is worth a shot in deeper formats this week.

Salvon Ahmed (ESPN 23% Yahoo 34%)

The Dolphin RB has missed his last 3 games and came back in style rushing for 122 yards with a score. He dead ass told his sick grandma he would put in work and he didn’t let her down. Ahmed saved some owners playoffs and can do so again this week against the Vegas Raiders who have been manhandled by opposing RBs. He has RB2 upside right when it counts but we must keep our eyes peeled on Myles Gaskin.

Jeff Wilson Jr. (ESPN 50% Yahoo 56%)

Wilson’s 60 rushing yards and a TD is good news but the better news is Mostert leaving the contest, potentially making Wilson a league winning player in week 16. If Mostert misses his week 16 matchup the Wilson becomes a RB2 value. Another great option off waivers if he’s available in your leagues.

Sony Michel (ESPN 15% Yahoo 19%)

Not my favorite back on this list but some of us play in some very deep leagues. Michel saw double digit carries with Harris out and ran for 74 yards on them. If Harris remains out for week 16 I would think about giving him a go in 14 team leagues or larger against the Bills who have been average at best defending RBs.

Russell Gage (ESPN 21% Yahoo 24%)

Gage has been thriving these past 3 weeks and will continue to do so as long as Julio is out. All these extra targets have brought Gage to average over 15 points a game in PPR leagues in that time against some tough secondaries. Gage and the Falcons have another tough matchup against the Chiefs who have held there own against wideouts but I have faith enough in Gage to warrant a flex play.

Keke Coutee (ESPN 31% Yahoo 41%)Chad Hansen (ESPN 4% Yahoo 2%)

Since his week 13 explosion against the Colts, Coutee hasn’t blown the doors off but has grabbed 1 TD in each matchup. With limited options in Houston Coutee needs to be considered a flex play in 12 team formats. I have a gut feeling he has a better outing against the Bengals this week who are league average at best. Another Texan to keep an eye on is Hansen who at least 11 points since Fuller was suspended. He is a riskier play to me but in deeper leagues I can justify it. It always helps when your quarterback is named Deshaun Watson.

Darnell Mooney (ESPN 9% Yahoo 10%)

Mooney is a guy who we have seen multiple times on the waiver wire report this year. He joins the list again after a 2nd straight game with a TD and a matchup against the miserable Jags. Mooneys receptions are never too high as the most he has brought in is 5 in a game but his target share is there. This could definitely be the week where he takes off and shows us why the Bears trust him as the #2 wideout.

Emmanuel Sanders (ESPN 50% Yahoo 56%)

It’s been a while since Sanders name has been fantasy relevant but here we are! Michael Thomas one of the biggest fantasy busts is done for the season and the #3 wideout Trequan Smith was hurt this past week. Sanders should be in line for a larger workload week 16 against the Vikings who just absolutely suck against the pass. They have allowed the 2nd most receiving TDs and third most fantasy points a game to wideouts.

Kendrick Bourne (ESPN 2% Yahoo 7%)

Bourne was having a quiet game until the final seconds when he hauled in a long TD grab. Bourne isn’t my top option to grab but if Samuel misses week 16, the Cardinals are a nice matchup for wideouts this year.

Logan Thomas (ESPN 53% Yahoo 63%)

It wouldn’t be a waiver wire list without the waiver wire king. Logan Thomas all year has been on this report because of how little of leagues he is owned in. He’s hovered around 50% in all leagues but it’s going to skyrocket after his 13 reception game against the Seahawks. His week 16 matchup against the Panthers warrants a top 10 play for the tight end.

Cole Kmet (ESPN 14% Yahoo 12%)

Kmet has been trending in the right direction until this past week when he accrued just 12 receiving yards letting down several owners in the playoffs. We are going to shake that one off and go back to the rookie who faces the Jaguars. The Jags are one of the worst teams all around and against tight ends have allowed the 2nd most TDs to tight ends. He’s worth a claim if you have a terrible matchup or an injury to the position.

George Kittle. Not going to go into it. Might be playing week 16. If he does and he’s available then why are you still reading this.
