Best Value QB Draft Picks

Best Value QB Draft Picks

Tom Brady ADP 72

If you listened to our podcast last week on our Top 20 QBs, you would of heard the disagreement Sean and I had on grandpa. While Sean feels Brady can’t duplicate the success from last year I myself know he can and might possibly do better!

What is there not to like about the defending Super Bowl champions offense? They have the same exact team for the most part returning for the 2021 season. That means Antonio Brown who from Week 9 to the rest of the season who finished as a low end WR2 will be available the whole season. That means the Bucs elite pass protection unit will be the brick wall yet again for Brady. That means that Mike Evans and Chris Godwin who are both healthy will be catching balls from Brady again.

In just one season in a new system Brady threw the most TDs he has thrown since 2007. He finished last year as the 8th ranked QB, yet he can be had 3-4 rounds later then guys who had just 25 more overall fantasy points then him. This is why I love trying to find value in the middle rounds of draft so you can stabilize other positions. With 1 year down in a new coaching scheme and with chemistry built between him and his weapons I wouldn’t be surprised to see his numbers increase. Don’t let the white hairs scare you, he’s a fantastic value.

Matthew Stafford ADP 98

To see Stafford outside of a Lions uniform feels like a man who was wrongfully convicted of a crime and is finally being released from prison. Dramatic for sure but the truth nonetheless. Stafford now dawns the LA Rams jersey with big time talent around him.

In post Megatron era, Stafford has had lack of talent around him as well as several pass-catchers failing to stay healthy. That should all change in 2021. Between Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, Stafford is dealing with a duo who gets it done after the catch. They are playmakers that he has been starved of for some time. He is also will benefit from more balance in the offense with the emerging presence of Cam Akers. Detroit struggled far too long to put together a formidable lead rushing attack.

Not only does Stafford have one of the best offenses he ever has played for this year but also will be playing under the best head coach he has ever had. McVay is a player coach and part of that reason is because he caters to his players strengths. McVays playbook will slightly alter towards Staffords strengths. We spoke heavy about these pros on our last podcast “Top 20 Quarterbacks”

The Grand Central Fantasy Podcast: Top 20 QBs for the 2021 Fantasy Football Season

Many time in Fantasy drafts I tend to lean toward stacking up my RBs and WRs in the first 6-8 rounds. I take my starting QB anywhere from rounds 7-10 and that’s just where Stafford should fall. A guy who has finished as a top 10 Quarterback at least 5+ times in his career in that area can solidify your roster and lead you to Fantasy greatness.

Ryan Fitzpatrick ADP 253

Laugh all you want, it’s all Fitzmagic over here when I see this guys virtually undrafted. Do I think Fitzpatrick should we drafted as your starter in 12 team Leagues? Fuck no, but certainly he should be rostered in all 2 QB formats. He also warrants a backup spot on your rosters for several reasons.

The WFT has suffered at the QB position for years now. I won’t bore your with the names but it’s been dreadful. WFT decided not to spend high premium in the draft on the QB position putting all its chips on the Harvard beard. Fitz will have an extremely young but phenomenal crew. Scary Terry is being labeled as a potential WR1. Curtis Samuel showed his versatility last year not only as a receiver but in the rushing attack. Antonio Gibson is another young stud who is drawing eyes and will help relieve pressure off the WFT passing attack.

From a fantasy perspective Fitzpatricks schedule comes as one of the easiest for QBs. His 2nd half of the season most notably brings us secondaries like the Eagles (twice), Dallas (twice), Seahawks, Panthers and Raiders. WFT will certainly be a competitive team this year right in the middle of things led by Ron Rivera and OC Scott Turner. Turner to me is great for Fitzpatricks fantasy value given how many times Washington threw the ball last year on offense which was well over 600 attempts.
