Week 8 Waiver Wire Targets

Kirk Cousins (ESPN 41% Yahoo 69%)

He’s back for more fun on this weeks waiver wire targets and I am shocked how he is available in over half of ESPN leagues (shame on you). Cousins is averaging the 10th most FPPG and comes fresh off his bye to face the Cowboys. This should certainly be a high scoring shoot out on Sunday Night Football. Cousins is playing some of his best football limiting his turnovers and working with some of the best offensive players in the game. Roster him now!

Carson Wentz (ESPN 22% Yahoo 37%)

I am going to say something I never thought I would utter again EVER. Carson Wentz has impressed me this season. Running the ball is the name of the game for the Colts but Wentz has shined life as the Colts QB and has done it well over the last month. In each of his last 4 games he has at least 2 TDs. Against the 49ers in a messy weather game, Wentz toughed it up and totaled 3 scores in the win. Wentz gets the Titans, Jets and Jags in his next 3 matchups. He should be considered one of your top streaming options.

Daniel Jones (ESPN 29% Yahoo 28%)

After a red hot start Jones has simmered down to the point people are screaming told you so. Jones re-emerged this week with a solid Win against the Panthers. I think Jones is one of your later streaming options if you miss out on the guys above but when you really look at it, he could finish top 10 these next 2 weeks. If Jones can get some of his players back healthy in weeks 8 and 9 against the Chiefs and Raiders, he may be able to put together weeks that looked like his early season form.

Kenneth Gainwell (ESPN 27% Yahoo 20%)

https://twitter.com/brodesmedia/status/1452367683996028938?s=21

Gainwell had a solid day for the Eagles with 60+ yards on 9 touches. He tied his season high on targets with 8 and brought in a TD with one of them. The bigger story for Philly RBs is Miles Sanders who left the matchup with an ankle injury. If he misses time Gainwell will certainly see his role expand. He could possibly be the most popular waiver claim of the week with a week 8 matchup against the winless Lions. Boston Scott deserves minor attention as well considering he saw his largest workload on the season.

Brandon Bolden (ESPN 6% Yahoo 6%)

Bolden has assumed the pass catching duties for NE RBs in recent weeks, carving himself a James White role. Against the Jets, just about everyone had a field day but Bolden finished with 6 catches 79 yards with a TD. This marks the 3rd time in 4 weeks he has 4+ catches. This was easily his best game and could continue to see a familiar role moving forward. An interesting add in PPR formats.

Devonta Freeman (ESPN 17% Yahoo 43%)

In week 6 we saw all three different Ravens RBs have at least 8 carries and a TD. This past week was a different story. The game didn’t play out in a way where they could rely on the ball considering they played from behind most it, but Freeman was clearly the most effective back if there was one to choose. Only 4 carries but had a rushing TD and 3 catches. I spoke last week how Murray is the lead back for the Ravens and I am sticking to my guns but if Murray continues to miss time Freeman should be the next man up.

Kenyan Drake (ESPN 60% Yahoo 62%)

I am trying to wrap my head around the Raiders RB situation. Jacobs missed time and instead of Drake stealing the show is was Peyton Barber. Jacobs comes back then Drake starts to get utilized. In yesterdays game Jacobs left the contest and Drake continued to show off his skills. Jacobs continues to rack up different injuries and is in danger of missing more time. Between Gainwell and Drake these are guys who need to be among the top of your claims considering the roles can increase drastically. Gods Plan.

Ty Johnson (ESPN 4% Yahoo 4%)

If you play in a deep format your options are tight. This is where a Ty Johnson falls into play. Ty who is the backup to Michael Carter has a role carved out in the Jets offense. This role isn’t huge but nonetheless could be valuable during bye weeks. With Zach Wilson expected to miss heavy time, Mike White will take the realm and that is ugly. I expect the Jets to lean heavily on there backs like they Sunday against the Pats via the passing game. Again, this is a deeper format add for depth purposes.

Rashaad Penny (ESPN 10% Yahoo 36%)

As I am writing this it’s Monday morning and have not watched the Seahawks game. I really lack faith in Penny considering his career has been a bust and filled with injuries. As he works his way back from injury and returns tonight, he settles on a Hawks team with know near sight of returning for Carson. The way Collins has ran is aggressive but has led to him being banged up. If you have a roster spot Penny could be your guy but I would actively pursue several of the other names above him as they are much safer.

Marlon Mack (ESPN 7% Yahoo 18%)

Possible trade candidate with the deadline coming up. Could help several teams in need of a RB and could help your Fantasy lineup.

Kadarius Toney (ESPN 45% Yahoo 46%)

This rookie still remains as one of my topic targets at wideout despite dealing with an ankle injury. It could be risky considering Toney depends on his ankles to viciously juke his opponents but so be it. I have seen enough of him to know he needs to be a part of my fantasy teams. With the Giants offense struggling to stay on the field from a health perspective, he will be welcomed back open arms ASAP. Week 8 brings a matchup against the struggling KC Chiefs.

Allen Lazard (ESPN 4% Yahoo 3%)

One of the longest issues for the Packers offense has been there 2nd WR. Noone seems to step up with it continuing to being a rotating community. Lazard has begun to show signs of life with a 2nd consecuvtive week with a TD. His usage in the offense has slowly ramped up after being basically useless the first month. I am intrigued with him because Aaron Rodgers is a QB god and the defenses he faces the next few weeks(Cardinals/Chiefs/Seahawks/Vikings). One of my lower options but deserves some recognition.

Russell Gage (ESPN 10% Yahoo 9%)

If you have been following us for a while you have heard me once or twice ramble on about Gages 2020 end of the year production. Ill save you my song and dance but things are trending up for ATL. I spoke on this offense during last weeks pod how it is trending in the right direction but I failed to mention Gage. He accrued 4 catches on 6 targets with a TD. An ankle injury riddled the start of his season but he is back, healthy and joining the Falcons offense at a great time.

Rashod Bateman (ESPN 17% Yahoo 30%)

One of the popular preseason rookie sleepers has now been targeted 12 times in his first 2 games in the NFL. This game brought more success as he tied Hollywood Brown on the day with the most recieving yards. There wasnt alot of positive things to say about the Ravens this week but Bateman showing signs of being a viable target for Lamar was one. The Ravens have a bye this week but in week 9 they will come out swinging against the Vikings.

Marquez Callaway (ESPN 47% Yahoo 45%)

Regular Season Football GIF by NFL - Find & Share on GIPHY

As I am writing this the Hawks still have not played but let’s go back all the way to 2 weeks ago when Callaway made his presence felt for the Saints. 2 TDs against the WFT on 8 targets is very nice! Now 3 scores in his last 3 games and no sign of Michael Thomas coming back. The Saints are hitting a 5 week window that every WR in the league is wishing they had.

Darius Slayton ( ESPN 4% Yahoo 4%)

I personally am not a huge Slayton guy but if the Giants offense wants to continue to act like wimps then Slayton could benefit. 9 Targets this past week proves my point. Against the Chiefs defense if Slayton is slated again as the #1 WR he is worthy of a flex play.

Michael Gallup ( ESPN 51% Yahoo 40%) & Will Fuller (ESPN 44% Yahoo 30%)

I pair both of these guys together because they are both proven wideouts who are eligible to come off the IR in week 8. We have seen plenty of success from them in the past and could immediately be factors if they are ready to suit up. If you do not put in a claim for them, someone else will.

Christian Kirk (ESPN 30% Yahoo 61%)

If you go back to every waiver wire report, I am almost certain Kirk is on half of them. In at least one of them I touched on how if you are a subscriber to our Patreon (only $5 a month) Kirk was a deep sleeper in drafts and mab has that paid off! Kirk grabbed another TD to notch his season total at 4. He has seen 5+ targets in 5 of 7 games and should continue to maintain this level of consistency. The Zona wide receiver room gets crowded at times but more often then not Kirk puts up respectable numbers.

Kalif Raymond (ESPN 5% Yahoo 3%)

I do not recomment going out of your way for a Lions wideout but in 14 team formats this guy could be an option for some depth. Raymond had the best game of his career with 6 catches cracking the 100 yard mark. In an offense that is struglling, Raymond continues to be an option for Goff. He has recorded 6+ targets in 4 of his last 5 games. Not the best option, but definitely an option especially week 8 against the Eagles

Ricky Seals-Jones (ESPN 47% Yahoo 55%)

Excited Washington Football Team GIF by NFL - Find & Share on GIPHY

Seals-Jones has really become one of Heinickes favorite targets since the Logan Thomas injury. He has a minimum of 6 Targets each game for the last 3 weeks and caught a season high 6 balls this past week. I prefer Seals-Jones skill set compared to some of these other guys but the next 2 weeks WFT gets the Broncos and then a bye week so it might be wiser to look elsewhere. If options are limited Seals-Jones is still worthy of a streamer week 8.

Mo Alie-Cox (ESPN 13% Yahoo 17%)

I honestly can’t get enough of Cox. Cox was on my mind a lot last season, but has really grown on me this year. With a more competent QB he has shown to be relative, more importantly in the red zone. 4 TDs in the last 3 weeks and now faces a favorable part of his matchup the next few weeks. A legit streaming option. Cox Cox Cox.

CJ Uzomah (ESPN 9% Yahoo 19%)

I think it’s safe to say Uzomah should be the highest streaming TE this week and deserves more respect then being labeled a streaming option. The Bengals offense is fucking good and Uzomah has been all about it. 2 TDs On 90+ yards against the Ravens brining him to 5 TDs in the last 3 weeks. Week 8 he gets the Jets who have struggled against the position.

Evan Engram (ESPN 23% Yahoo 31%)

I feel bad because the handful of times I have ever said positive things about Engram in his career, he usually gets hurt shortly after. With the Giants offense depleted Engram saw 8 targets on 6 catches. If healthy Engram is a streaming option at best. Don’t fall in love with him after a monster game because he causes heartbreak more often then not.
