The Justin Herbert Effect

The 2019 Draft class is full of defensive studs, from the line to the secondary. What it does not possess is a deep QB field, which just got even smaller with Justin Herberts announcement. Herbert will be returning to Oregon for his senior season. Herbert could have been the top QB off the board and potentially a top 10 pick. Whatever his reasons are for staying, it will certainly impact the league more then he thinks.

With Herbert returning to school, there are 2 potential QBs who will be drafted in the first round. Drew Lock from Missouri and possible Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State should benefit the most. With slim pickings on the free agent front, several teams will have there eyes on these youngsters. The one name that sticks out on free agency is Nick Foles. Will the Eagles make sure to bring back the Super Bowl hero even with Wentz in the roster? As much as Foles would want to remain in Philly this might be his last attempt to cash in.

With such limited options at QB next year and so many teams in desire of one, teams will be forced to make questionable moves. One of those teams may possibly be our hometown Giants. The Justin Herbert effect could also effect the Jets in a positive way. With so many holes to the roster, a team may be so high on the list for one of these passers that they will give up an arm and a leg for the Jets first round pick. With teams like the Raiders, Broncos, Jaguars, Titans, Buccaneers, Giants and Redskins in search for a franchise QB, the search just appeared to get harder.
