Buster Olney reported today that the Chicago White Sox offered Manny Machado an intertingly frustrating deal for Yankees fans. The supposed deal is for 7 years at $175 million This is the latest rumored deal that the White Sox have reported to offer the stud infielder. Others have reported that there has been other offers ranging from $200 to $250 million. As a Yankee fan I honestly just have one question here.
What the fuck are the Yankees and Manny Machado doing here?
Machado wants to be a Yankee. The Yankees want Machado to be a Yankee. Manny’s family wants to live in New York. My family wants Manny’s family to live in New York. ALL THE MAJOR PLAYERS WANT THE SAME THING HERE!
But why haven’t the Yankees swooped in and made the deal? It seems like the issue is one thing. And that thing seems to be money. The Yankees have a monster contract they need to pay with Giancarlo Stanton and do not want to add another to their payroll. Along with going the rumors that many will only get low ball offers, there are many others saying he and his agent want MORE than Stanton’s 13 year $325 million deal.
Woah.
If that is the deal that’s going to reel in Machado then I have to say: I’m out. I love Manny Machado as a baseball fan. His is a fiery, passionate, and ultra talented player who is one of the best third basemen of all time. You heard that right, all time. I could go on and on, but at the end of the day as much as the Yankees may want Machado, they do not need Machado.
But don’t get too upset Yankee fans! There is a school of thought floated out there by John Heyman that if the offers for Machado remain low, the Yankees can swoop in at the last minute and steal Manny. Fingers crossed boys and girls.
