The Baseball Hall of Fame is Now the Hall of Inconsistency and We All Seem Just Fine With it

We are a little over 24 hours removed from the announcement of 2019’s Hall of Fame class. If you tuned into MLB network’s live announcement you got to experience 18 extra minutes of bull shit while they stalled the announcement. In between asking the corpse of Peter Gammons if Mike Mussina will get in for the 300th time we were treated to awkward pauses between the crew as they, along with the viewers, waited for the co chairman of the Baseball Hall of Fame to make his announcement. As the gentlemen spoke embarrassig white boy Spanish announcing Edgar Martinez was in, and then again when Yankee legend Mariano Rivera was announced, my cringe level was through the roof.

But what really set me off was the announcement of one of my favorite Yankees of all time, Mike Mussina had made this years class. And what was even worse was after the announcement the entire MLB network crew applauded Mussina’s election like it was years over due. I loved Mussina. He pitched one of the first Yankee game I ever went to when I was 11 years old at the old Yankee stadium. He was always my guy. That being said, when I saw he was elected I had one thought. You have got to be fucking kidding me.

You can go look up Mussina’s stats for yourself. He is the model of consistency. He won a lot of games and had a good amount of strike outs. No Cy Young awards. No World Series Rings. The Base ball Hall of Fame is and always has been for an exclusive group of players. The best of the best. Now it seems writers are just getting too soft and frankly inconsistent.

Mussina is in, but Schilling is out?!

Mike Piazza isn’t first ballot due to PED rumors, but Pudge Rodriguez is?!

Edgar Martinez makes it in but Fred Mcgriff falls of the ballot?!

TIM RAINES IS VOTED IN BY THE LEGACY COMMITTEE BUT THE FUCKING HIT KING PETE MOTHER FUCKING ROSE IS STILL BANNED FROM BASEBALL FOR GAMBLING?!?!?!?

The writers really need to look themselves in the mirror as a collective and figure out what the fuck is going on here. As a guy who bleeds baseball I am incredibly concerned about the future of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Do better Baseball Writer of America.
