Can We Please Stop Crying Over Tyler Wade?

News came down over the weekend that the long time Yankee prospect Tyler Wade will not make the team this year. After being rumored to perhaps fill in at Center Field while Hicks was out, the Yankees turned around and traded for Colorado outfielder Tauchman. Prompting a demotion for the annoyingly inconsistent prospect.

Wade did not take the news well. Throwing a borderline hissy fit to reporters afterward….

#Yankees writers just talked to Tyler Wade in Fort Myers. He’s very very upset about being optioned. He’s as angry as any player cut on last day that I’ve seen in 20 years as a beat writer.— Randy Miller (@RandyJMiller) March 24, 2019

Wade said he felt “blindsided” and complained how “now his defense isn’t good enough”. This is a player who was heralded as far back as 2014 as the Yankees next top prospect. Brian Cashman sold him as a possible “swiss army knife” when he finally got up to the big leagues. Unfortunately that has not panned out for Mr. Wade.

Tyler Wade when he tries to enter Yankee Stadium on Opening Day…..

The fact of the matter is Wade is just not good enough to make this team. He has had chances in the past. 124 at bats where he hit to a robust line of .161/.218/.273. Damn, wow sign me up for a full season of those numbers guys. Sheesh. I am not saying the kid won’t be decent one day, but at 24 he still has time to develop and the ebst place to do it is in the minor leagues. It is nobodies fault but his own that he is down there. Don’t blame the Yankees, or Cashman. Look in the mirror and make them HAVE to call you up!
