Who to draft, Deshaun Watson or Andrew Luck?

Deshaun Watson or Andrew Luck

2 division foes who are being drafted one after another in mocks. Watson and Luck finished at 4 and 5 last year in fantasy football. They were catalysts to many championship runs, elevating there play to owners satisfaction. There is no reason why these studs can’t eclipse last years marks but who is the better option.

Watson has the moxy that draws football fans to him. His astonishing rookie year was cut short due to a torn ACL but rebounded as much as you could ask for in his sophomore campaign. Now over a year removed from injury, Watson will put his skill set to the test as he will be among the leagues best in a dynamic offense.

Speaking of dynamic offenses, you can’t speak of them and leave out Captain Andrew Luck. Like Watson, Luck returned to All-Pro form after dealing with a major injury. Not only did Luck put naysayers to rest but he was awarded with the comeback player of the year.

Both of these quarterbacks are the leaders of there franchise. The offensive playbooks are heavily relied on passing and rightfully so. They both have some of the easiest fantasy football schedules as well for a QB. The decision was tough but drumroll please

Andrew Luck C’mon down!

Flashback to your 2018 fantasy drafts. Andrew Luck is returning from shoulder surgery on his throwing shoulder. In my mind, even if he plays most of the season there is no way the Colts rely on his surgically repaired shoulder. Boy was I wrong. Luck attempted the 2nd most passing attempts last year and showed us again who he is.

When the guy is on the field he performs. 4 Times in his career Luck has been a Top 5 Fantasy QB. The years he wasn’t Top 5, he was decimated with all type of injuries. Luckily the Colts figured out they want there franchise QB to have a decent life span and provided protection for the Amish looking fellow.

If you look at last year stats Luck showed us what we already knew, he is a staple of consistency. Luck had 10 games last year where he threw at least 300 yards and 2 TDs to Watson’s 4. He had 9 games with 3+ passing touchdowns to Watson’s 1. Luck gets his stats up and there’s nothing more an owner loves. I think these numbers will improve for Luck with added offensive threats via free agency and the draft.

Now I know Watson is more of a dual threat and also racks up points with his legs. The Texans would be crazy if they didn’t pump the brakes on that part of his game. They need him on the field and putting him in those situations at a higher rate makes him more prone to injury, thus effecting his value. This happens with several young QBs in the NFL. They use there legs earlier on in there careers until they become more comfortable in the pocket, reading NFL defenses and avoiding pressure.

It’s an extremely close call due to the excessive talent and IQ built in there NFL DNA. Watson could come out and give us a Mahomes caliber season forcing me to eat my words. With Luck you almost know what you are getting. He most likely won’t be the Top QB but you will be ecstatic with the results
