5 Takeaways from First Week of Preseason

1) The RB battle for the Dolphins is set between Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage. Although Drake is viewed as the favorite to contribute as the lead back, he was unimpressive Thursday night. Ballage didn’t appear to spectacular either but flew over the pile at the goal line for a touchdown. He finished 6 carries on 23 yards. Let’s continue to monitor this situation throughout the preseason.

2) Tom Shady lost several pieces to his offensive receiving core this offseason. They brought in several players via free agency and the draft. Last night his rookies shined, lighting up the Lions defense. N’Keal Harry made some nice plays but left with a hamstring injury. Undrafted wide out Jakobi Meyers was the talk of the game with 8 catches and 2 touchdowns. Maurice Harris and Braxton Berrios each made there presence felt. One of these guys for sure will make a fantasy impact, if not more.

3) Eagles RB situation is still up in the air. Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders didn’t give us much in there limited time on the field. A time share potentially is on the horizon but let’s take it slow with this situation

4) With Chris Carson leading the rushing attack in 2018, last years first round pick Rashaad Penny has some catching up to do. Penny was given his shot last night and disappointed us yet again. This job is Chris Carson’s and its not even close.

5) I have to give my guy Sam Darnold some love. All the QB talk from the snoopy bowl was for Daniel Jones but Darnold led an impressive drive down the field for the Jets which led to a TD. The offensive line held up and everyone layered there part. I’m not going to come out and preach to draft Darnold Schwarzenegger but he’s going to help several teams at the very least as a weekly streamer. Big things are coming.
