Takeaways from Thursday’s Preseason Games (Week 2)

One of the top headlines from Thursday’s preseason games was Kyler Murray….for all the wrong reasons. The Raiders welcomed the rookie to the NFL with multiple blitz packages that confused the fuck out of him. Murray appeared rattled and that’s normal. With all the high expectations set on Murray let’s get one thing straight, he’s a rookie QB in the NFL. Not everyone is going to be Pat Mahomes there first year starting so it’s fair to temper expectations.

The Eagles RB competition is one to keep an eye on his preseason. Miles Sanders improved big time from his week 1 performance, averaging 6 yards a carry. He showed off some of his playmaking skill set and had a better showing then Jordan Howard.

Sam Darnold and the first team offense (minus Bell and a few linemen) look in sync for a 2nd straight week. The more we see Darnold on the field the more I feel the Jets receivers are being undervalued in fantasy, especially Quincy Enuwa. Ty Montgomery ran like a man fighting for a job and played well with first stringers.

Raiders spent a first round pick on Josh Jacob’s and it showed Thursday night. His power and foot work were on display, showing fantasy football owners a little sneak preview of what he can do. Jacobs could enjoy some success for the revitalized Raiders offense.

Lamar Jackson gave us a highlight reel run which was ultimately called back due to an illegal block in the back. Although it was called back, we should be seeing a lot of that this year. He had a decent throwing game going 6-10 on 58 yards. Fantasy owners aren’t signing up for his throwing abilities.
