Should the Browns Replace Baker Mayfield with Cam Newton?

It has been months now and Superman himself Cam Newton is still unsigned. Why is that? Nobody fucking knows. Is he being black balled? Maybe. Teams have never been a fan of quarterbacks with big egos, but as a former MVP, Newton has superseded that stereotype with his performance on the field.

Newton will most likely find a job somewhere. And he may be holding out for a starting job considering there really is no good reason why he has not been signed yet. Here at GCF we are huge Cam fans. At only 31 years of age he has a lot left in the tank. Sure his injuries are a concern, but by all accounts he has fully recovered from his surgeries and is 100%. Cam is our guy, and we have the perfect spot for him….

THE CLEVELAND BROWNS BABY!

Listen, you know I’m not a huge Baker fan but this really does make sense for the Browns when you open your eyes and stop drinking the Mayfield Kool Aid. Cam Newton is a seasoned vet who has played in a Super Bowl, with an MVP trophy on his mantle and he can still outrun a lot of linebacker out there. Baker? He’s more of a work in progress. 22 touchdowns to 21 interceptions last year. Almost 4,000 yards passing but not a lot to show for it. And under Baker’s watch Odell Beckham Jr. one of the most talented receivers in the NFL has totally disappeared! The offense has never really been able to stay consistent with Mayfield. Some of that is the coaching staff, as well as the offensive line, but a lot of it is Mayfield’s. His inaccuracy in the lateral game as well as poor decision making put the Browns behind the 8 ball a lot last season.

Now to be fair, Mayfield is still a work in progress. He has some raw skills that need to be refined but the fact of the matter is, this team is built to win now. And that’s where Cam Newton comes in. We have already reviewed his experience and overall resume. We know what he can do. The Browns just need to let him do it!

The likelihood of this is low. Considering it would shatter Baker’s confidence, but Newton and his threat to run would make the RPO (Run Pass Option) game with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt unstoppable. Cam has a better arm than Baker and he will be able to get the ball downfield to OBJ and Landry. Newton could step in and make this offense a dynamic championship worthy squad.

Give it some thought Cleveland!
