Week 2: Must Starts

Last week we dominated our Week 1 Must Start picks and this week will be no different. Plug these guys entire your lineup and stop stressing!

Dak Prescott QB vs Atlanta

Now Dak did not live up to the tremendous hype that was built up for him in week 1. However, it wasn’t all his fault. Prescott’s 266 passing yards for only 1 touchdown left fantasy managers surprised, but if you watched the game you saw that Mike McCarthy hesitated to take deep shots down the field. Whether that was in the game script because he thought it was the best option, or he was scared of the LA secondary; it was clear McCarthy was holding Dak back. This week we love Dak against the Atlanta Falcons. you saw how Russell Wilson lit the up last week. And I think we can expect a similar output for Dak in week 2. Look for Dak to score 23 to 30 fantasy points.

Cam Newton QB @ Seattle

Cam and the Patriots travel to the west coast this week for a marquee Sunday night football matchup in Seattle. Newton welcomed his haters back to the Superman show last week by throwing for 155 yards and carrying the ball 15 times for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cam showed that he still has it and what is most important; Belichick showed that he is willing to let Cam be Cam. the Patriots looked like they are ready to play “bully ball” and with Newton going up against a weak Seattle secondary and defensive front, look for the former MVP to get anywhere from 19 to 25 points in week 2.

Jonathan Taylor RB vs Minnesota

JT makes it back onto our must start list for a second straight week. Last week he started off slow, but the rookie finished strong once Marlon Mack left the game. Finishing with 9 carries for 22 yards, and 6 receptions for 67 yards, Taylor showed that with Mack out he has a clear cut role in this offense. The rookie will face a Viking defense that looked like a shell of what it was a few years ago. Taylor will have to share some of the work with Nyheim Hines, but I expect Taylor to come out of this game as the lead dog in the offense. Look for a solid 15 to 18 fantasy points for our guy Jonathan Taylor.

Miles Sanders RB vs LAR

Sanders sat out last week and the Eagles offense suffered majorly. Wentz looked inconsistent as usual, but you could tell he missed the security blanket that is Sanders. This week the Eagles are going up against a LA Rams defense that had major issues stopping Ezekiel Elliot last week. I am not saying Sanders is on Zeke’s level, but I do think there is something to be said for the Rams inconsistency when it comes to stopping the run. I think we see Sanders get a lot of touches this week including multiple receptions. Look for Sanders to net you 13 to 17 fantasy points this week as a solid RB2.

J.K. Dobbins RB @ Houston

Another back to back entry on our must starts, Dobbins is fresh off a huge performance last week that introduced the world to what he can do as a running back in this league. Dobbins took his 7 carries and totaled up 22 yards and 2 touchdowns. Surely these are not numbers that pop out at you, but Dobbins was on the field for the majority of the possessions as the featured back. And even though he did not receive a single target, Dobbins was the only running back that ran multiple routes through out the game. At the end of the day it really is simple; all signs point to Dobbins being the future in Baltimore. With each passing week Dobbins will only get better and this week against a Houston defense that is the definition of average I think we see him put up 14 to 18 fantasy points this week.

Calvin Ridley WR @ Dallas

It is about damn time you put some respect on Calvin Ridley’s name! We got a lot of questions last week asking if they should start Ridley las week and we went all in on the third year receiver out of Alabama. This week is not different. going up against an overrated Dallas defense I think we see Ridley get even more targets with Julio Jones a little banged up. Look for 16 to 22 fantasy points from Ridley this week.

Adam Lazard/Marquez Valdes-Scantling WR’s vs Detroit

The two Green Bay receivers proved they could co-exist with their lead dog Davante Adams in week 1 against the Vikings. Combining for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns the duo shocked the fantasy world by putting up WR2 numbers. This week the talented duo draws an abysmal Detroit secondary. I think they will both score between 13 to 19 fantasy points each. Yes I still love Davante Adams too, and yes I would start both Lazard and Valdes-Scantling together if I could.

Scotty Miller WR vs Carolina

This one may surprise some of you, but if you have been following this series since last year you know we are always ahead of the game at GCF. This week we are targeting Scotty Miller as a dream upside flex play. Apparently having clicked with Brady in training camp Miller rode that momentum to 5 receptions on 6 targets for 73 yards. Now with Chris Godwin most likely out due to being placed in the concussion protocol there is a big part of the target share up for grabs. Look for Miller to shock the world this week and put up 14 to 18 fantasy points in your flex spot making him the #FlexGod of the week!

Darius Slayton WR @ Chicago

Slayton started off the season hot last week on Monday Night Football torching the Steelers defense for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. This week he lines up with a Chicago defense that is not above giving up some big plays. Slayton is the future of this offense and I believe he will finish the season as the Giants number 1 receivers. start Slayton as your WR2 and expect a solid 15 to 17 points this week.

Evan Engram TE @ Chicago

It is clear that the giants want engram to be involved in the game plan. it has just been a struggle for the veteran tight end and his young quarterback to get on the same page. last week against the Steelers Engram was targeted 7 times, but only grabbed 2 of them. One of his missed opportunities included a wide open chance in the end zone that could not be converted. Look for this week to be a make or break week for Engram. We think he finds the end zone and gives you a solid 10 to 12 fantasy points this week.

Dallas Goedert vs LA Rams

We told you to start Goedert last week and if you listened he paid major dividends to the tune of 101 yards and a touchdown. We think we will see similar production this week against LA with some regression. Look for Goedert to get you 12 to 15 fantasy points this week.
