1. Jose Ramirez CLE: Not much to say in this area. Ramirez is arguably in the top 3 of fantasy players overall. With his 2B/3B eligibility in most leagues, you absolutely have to go Ramirez as your #1 2B.

2. Jose Altuve HOU: My favorite Jose in the MLB Altuve had a down season after his MVP campaign of 2017. He dropped .120 from his OPS and suffered some injuries along the way. In my opinion, Altuve is poised for an absolute monster season. The guy is technically just reaching his prime now at 29. If he can stay healthy I expect Altuve to regain his rightful place in the MLB as a top 5 MVP vote getter, and regain his status as the top overall 2b. His ADP is a joke compared to what this guy is capable of. I would feel comfortable taking him anywhere from the end of the 1st to the early 2nd.

3. Whit Merrifield KC: Depending on what platform you play on, Merrifield is basically eligible to be anywhere on the field except for the pitchers mound. We like him as our 3rd second baseman because the guy can do it all in another some what shallow position. He had 45 stolen basis last year and will easily eclipse 40 again this year. With no restrictions holding him back on a terrible team, Whit will put up great numbers for you in Steals, Average, and Runs. For the reliable pick, go with Merrifield.

4. Javier Baez CHI: Everyone knows the impact Baez had on the National League last year. The man was an absolute force. He fell short of the MVP and was dogged with domestic abuse allegations, but he still finished strong in 2018. Now we are in a new year where Baez looks to build off of last years success. I love Baez, especially in keeper/dynasty leagues. But if you are a re-draft guy, beware of some regression from El Mago. Especially when it comes to his average. I still like the power numbers to be there and give owners a reason to be glad they spent an early pick on the kid.

5. Daniel Murphy COL: I covered him in our Fantasy Baseball 1st Base Rankings , so check out the Murph man there. But in short; Daniel Murphy + Coors Field= Batting Title.

6. Ozzie Albies ATL: It was the tale of two Ozzies last year. The rookie had 20 home runs and 9 steals in the first half, but only 4 home runs and 5 steals in the second half. The All-Star rookie at the end of the day has 30/30 potentially. I personally had Albies on one of my championship teams last year in a points league and I am keeping him this year. He will only get better in this young Atlanta lineup, and I for one am ready to take him before a lot off guys this year just to get a chance at that winning lottery ticket type of player.

7. Gleyber Torres NYY: Torres has the potential to bust into the top three of this list in 2020. The former number one over all prospect put up a great season last year with the yankees, even though it did have some injuries. With an .820 OPS 24 home runs and 77 RBI in just over 120 games last season, Torres solidified his status as one of the future stars of the MLB. I like his average to go up wthis year from .277 as well as that OPS. And watch for his RBI total to sky rocket over 100.

8. Adalberto Mondesi KC: We move onto another former top prospect in Mondesi. Listen, the Royals are going to be the definition of terrible, but guys like Mondesi are why they may have a bright future down the line. The 23 year old only played less than half a season last year, but put up some gaudy numbers in those 75 games. 14 homers, 37 RBI and 32 Stolen Bases. 32 STOLEN BASES IN 75 GAMES?!? Sign me the hell up! I love Mondesi this year and beyond. So if you have a chance at him and his dual eligibility at 2B/SS pounce on it.

9.  Matt Carpenter STL: I covered Carpenter here Fantasy Baseball 1st Base Rankings , but in short; if you use a mid round pick on Carpenter you are pretty much guaranteed a solid player with huge upside.

10. Scooter Gennett CIN: Scooter is the definition of a future perennial cornerstone fantasy option at 2B. High average, solid home runs and RBI totals, Gennett looks to build off of his breakout season. Gennett is entering his prime and is a great value in the middle rounds.

11. Travis Shaw MIL: Shaw is ranked extremely low for a guy entering his 4th year coming off a 32 home run year and an .825 OPS. Shaw could be a major breakout player this year and is a prime example of a true sleeper candidate.

12. Robinson Cano NYM: Robbie Cano is back in New York! Even though he is coming off a PED suspension and gets another year older, I still love Cano this year. The man is a walking hit machine. A Hall of Fame caliber career will bring stabilization to The Mets lineup and I expect Cano to bat at least .290 with 20 home runs and 85 RBI. That is great value for a late round pick.
