Grand Central Gambling: Opening Day Daily Fantasy Picks

Opening day is upon us and for me it is one of the greatest days of the year. We have six straight months of baseball to look forward to that will take us right into football season. But what are we supposed to do as gamblers while we wait for football? You guessed it, pull a Pete Rose and bet on baseball baby! Let’s dive in and give you guys some of our daily fantasy picks for opening day!

1B: Jake Bauers $3700- The very much hyped up young gun is ready to prove himself this year in Cleveland. Eligible at first base and left field you can plug Bauers in wherever you feel like. He is going against Jose Berrios Who has extremely nasty stuff the last year was prone to give up some big runs here in there. I like Jake’s price here and you can save by going with him rather than going with more expensive options like Rizzo.

2B: Jurickson Profar $3600- Once upon a time pro far was the top prospect in baseball. Injuries and ineffective play looked at one time to derail his career. But after a borderline break our campaign in Texas last year he has signed on to the Moneyball franchise in Oakland. Pro far is only 23 years old and can do it all. He goes up against Trevor Cahill Who can be a tricky lefty at times, but I like Profar’s chances to get a couple hits and maybe even put one out in the stands on Opening Day. At $3600 he is an amazing value as well.

3B: Justin Turner $4200- The former New York Mets has made a name for himself out in LA. The only issue is health, but you don’t have to worry about that daily fantasy. Third base is a tough position pics in on opening day, but at $4200 I like the veteran Turner to grab a couple hits against their division rival Arizona. He’s going up against Zack Greinke so this won’t be an easy matchup, but I have to say I like my chances with the ginger hot corner!

SS: Corey Seager $4200- Seager is coming in hot this year ready to remind LA who their leader and perennial MVP candidate is. Going against Greinke is never a plus, but do not sleep on Seager here. The former rookie of the year still can do it all at the plate and at $4200 I love his value.

OF: Eloy Jimenez $4300- The soon to be rookie phenom is making his first MLB Opening Day appearance and will look to break out against lefty Mike Minor. Jimenez is one of the most hyped up prospects we have seen since Gleyber Torres, and both came from the Cubs farm system. Look for Jimenez to put up good numbers in his first Opening Day, and keep playing the kid while his price is so low!

SP: Carlos Rodon $7500- Starting Pitcher is always slim Pickens on Opening Day, but at $7500 Rodon and his nasty stuff could pay off big for your DFS team! Rodon is still a young hurler, but he has more than enough experience under his belt at this point. He is going into this year as the clear ace of the staff and has the strikeout power to go up against anyone in the MLB. Against a below average Texas lineup who’s biggest addition this off season was bringing Hunter Pence “home” *insert eye roll here*, Rodon could put up 7 IP easy and hopefully keep the Earned Runs at a maximum of 3.
