GCF’s Buy or Sell Guide

Three weeks into the Fantasy Football season and some of us are either riding high with a winning record or struggling with either a 1-2 or a 0-3 . Here at GCF we always got the fans back! Let’s dive in and see who you should be buying and selling before it is too late!

BUY/HOLD

Kenny Golladay WR Detroit:

Kenny G was one of our favorite players in the preseason. Both Mike and I had very high hopes for the man, but injuries kept him out over the first two weeks. Yet, he returned this week against Arizona and helped Detroit finally get their first win in forever with a nice touchdown grab to go with 6 catches for 57 yards. Now you may have him and wonder if you should sell and get some help at another position. I’m here to tell you right now: hold Kenny Golladay. This man is still an elite WR1 and if you don’t have him on your roster I would go out there and make an offer on him in all of your leagues. He is going to be a steal from a fantasy manager who is spooked by his early injuries.

Allen Robinson II WR Chicago:

Robinson, much like Golladay, was hyped up by us at GCF for awhile in the preseason. After two lackluster games where he performed more like a bench players rather than the high end WR2 many drafted him to be. However, in Week 3 the Bears finally came to their senses and benched Mitch Trubisky. And by replacing Trubisky with a real quarterback in Nick Foles the Philly God, Robinson finally received the placement he needed and hauled in 10 balls for 123 yards and a touchdown. Matt Nagy already announced that Foles is the starting QB from here on out and that’s amazing news for Robinsons value. I’m ready to go all in on A Rob and you should too.

Kareem Hunt RB Cleveland:

Hunt started off super hot with big fantasy numbers in weeks 1 and 2. The key to his big value early on was his ability to find the end zone. Last week he failed to do so while his backfield partner Nick Chubb (the 🐐) found the pay dirt twice. Hunt was still heavily involved in the game plan however and put up respectable totals. Yet we still have been getting several questions on if he should be moved. Some managers are getting a little antsy about if they should hold him or sell him as they continue to watch Nick Chubb be the star of the show. For us, we are buying Hunt. He still has a very high ceiling for the rest of the season and I would feel comfortable ranking him as a RB2 for the rest of the season. Go make the move!

Diontae Johnson WR Pittsburgh:

I am claiming Diontae Johnson officially as my mother Fuckin guy. He’s mine, you guys can’t have him. I love his game and I love his ceiling for the rest of the season. In weeks one and two he was the most targeted Steelers receiver and was poised for a monster week 3. Unfortunately, my guy suffered a concussion and registered 0 fantasy points for his managers. People were on the fence before his concussion so I imagine some will be in panic mode. Bottom line: go get Diontae. He will be healthy soon and when he is we are going to see him back to his regular production.

Deshaun Watson QB Houston:

I was all in on Watson going into last weeks Steelers game. Unfortunately the Texans offense couldn’t compete in the second half and lost a close one. Watson managers have been left frustrated after spending a decent pick on him and receiving barely top 10 quarterback numbers in return. Let’s be honest, Watson misses Deandre Hopkins and so does the rest of this offense. Also, the Texans have had one of the hardest three week stretches I can remember and that’s not help Watson or the teams confidence. Capitalize off Watson managers frustrations and add him to your squad ASAP. He still has amazing potential and their schedule only gets easier.

SELL

Kenyan Drake RB Arizona:

Mike and I were both sort of hesitant when it came to Drakes second round ADP. We both were high on him but felt he was being picked too high in drafts. So far he has underperformed and it seems that this may be how it is moving forward. I would try to move Drake off any and all of my teams if possible. He’s a solid piece but if you’re looking to shake things up then you should start with getting rid of what may be just a one year wonder from 2019.

Joe Mixon RB Cincinnati:

It’s clear that at this point things just aren’t working for Mixon in Cincinnati. With another bust Fantasy performance in Week 3 I fear that this is what we can expect from Mixon all year long. I’ve never been too high on the Oklahoma product but a lot of people still are. Jump ship on Mixon while he still has some upside value to other managers in your league. Zac Taylor’s offense just does not feature him enough to return the value of where you picked him.

Amari Cooper WR Dallas

Cooper is always an over drafted prospect in my opinion. I get it, he’s the nUmBeR oNe ReCeIVeR fOr ThE cOwBoYs. In reality though he’s not. He’s put up flex level fantasy all year while the other Dallas weapons have feasted on Daks spectacular play. Cut your loses with this guy and move on. He is a sell high candidate to a Cowboy fan in your league for sure.

Todd Gurley RB ATL:

Gurley has been real solid over the first three weeks of the season. He’s found the end zone and shown that he isn’t totally washed up at this point in career after serious knee injuries. That’s why you need to sell high right now. He is risky to retain all year long while the Falcons seem to not really know how to utilize him consistently to run the clock down. Gurley could return a significant piece so don’t be afraid to shop him aggressively.

Leonard Fournette RB Buccaneers:

Fournette burst out of fantasy irrelevance after his week one dud of a performance with a huge game in Week 2. However Week 3 had a much different result. With only seven carries fifteen yards Fournette barely registered and points for his teams. Sell on this guy for whatever value you can get. He is too unpredictable moving forward.
